Name Portraits
I accept private commissions for name portraits of children. These are created in watercolor and pen and ink and mounted in either 11×14 or 12×16 inch matts and range in cost from $400 (small) to $500 (large).
Name portraits include the child in a favorite outfit or color, with his or her name above, and may also include a pet and/or favorite toy, and the subject doing a favorite activity. Extras like backgrounds, additional toys or pets incur an added cost of $50/item. I will need several color photos of the subject and elements you wish to include. If you wish to gift a name portrait to a newborn or expectant parent, I will send you a certificate at no charge to be redeemed when the child is old enough.
Portrait Process:
I prefer all photos emailed to me, but I will accept photos by mail and return these with your finished painting. I will email an initial sketch to you and make reasonable changes at no extra cost. Once the sketch is approved, I will do the finished painting, for which there will be a charge for any changes. I will scan the finish to you to double check before I mail the original matted portrait with my bill. There will be no charge for postage. The whole process can usually be completed in a month; a faster delivery request may be met with an upcharge pending the timing.
